I started my first business in 2016. A planner accessories business that focused on stickers, dashboards, and handsewn planner cases. Most of these items, while they could be used in just about any planner or bullet journal, were made to fit the famous Erin Condren 7×9” vertical planner. And if you have ever been in the planner community, you know exactly what I’m talking about. 1.6” wide boxes all the way!
As a result of having a business in the planner community and spending most of my freetime looking at people putting stickers in their planners I of course ended up in the group of people who were part of Planners Gone Wild (a Facebook Group) which was the hub of planner life. Conferences, meetups, events, and more stemmed from that group and others around it. In fact, at the time, my best friend and I started our own group called Coastal Planner Chicks, a place for local friends to come and plan their Sundays away!
And as a group, my bestie and I signed up for and attended our first planner conference, PlannerCon in 2019! I was a diehard planner gurlie with an unhealthy love for stickers and my planner and that by association meant I was fascinated by Erin Condren, both as a business woman and a human. Her attitude and entrepreneurship was like the air I wished I was giving me life.
So, when I ended up in San Francisco, California that spring for the first year of the PlannerCon conference, I was informed that she would be showing up too??? Cue full body melt. I absolutely had to stop what I was doing to get in line for a photo opp! She was truly amazing, so sweet, and funny. And we got the funnest photo together that I still treasure to this day! Meeting your role models CAN be a positive experience!
